Hi Ansarul, thanks for taking the time to write even though you seem things very differently. My thoughts about what you wrote:
I trust that you realize that the comments I made about three bombs per death are specifically response to the charge that Israel is committing genocide, which I think it is not. They are not condoning or justifying the bombings and invasion, which I said very directly in the piece. Can you see the difference?
Did you see my acknowledgment that Israel may be committing war crimes and, if it is, it should stop? Are you willing to take this in?
Did you see my case that Israel had a choice in how it responded to October 7 and was not forced to respond the way that it has...and my advocacy for a different approach, which I wrote a long article about linked to here?
As for the suffering of Palestinians, that's not what this piece is about. The piece is about ungrounded assessments. The fact that 80% of Palestinians have been displaced, that people are starving, that people have died—there are many facts to support this. It's not controversial. So it didn't fit into what I wrote about here.
Read through it again a bit more slowly and with an open mind, and perhaps you'll interpret my words differently.
