Thanks for this thoughtful comment. I like what you write here about different meanings and uses of the word nationalism. It's something we are wrestling with as a country...and around the world. I appreciate the link to Hanzi's article. I've read both of his books but not this particular article. Like Lene Rachel Andersen, he (they!) is a European who has much wisdom to offer us Americans. My views of the nation have also been deeply influenced by the beauty and complexity of Israel, something I will begin writing about soon.
