Hi Nia, thank you for taking the time to engage so fully with this essay and add in a number of important dimensions that I left out. I don't think I even used the words "Iran" or "UN" in the essay even though I'm aware that they are important players in this story. And I've written elsewhere about Israel's role as first-responder. Ironically, as you know, people intend on defaming Israel will claim that this is purely PR/coverup/etc. But I think we can agree its a genuine expression of the values of the state (coupled with, yes, a desire to be seen more positively in the rest of the world, which has a non-cynical interpretation of enlightened self-interest).
