OK, so you are advocating for a ceasefire to save lives and prevent WWIII. I am advocating for Israel to switch to a counterterrorism strategy to save lives, prevent WWIII...as well as protect Israel from future Hamas attacks and therefore future Israeli retaliations. You are aware that Hamas leadership has vowed to commit one, two, many more Sept 7s, aren't you?
So, here is my question for you: would you support Israel in shifting to a counterterrorism strategy involving special forces and targeted assassinations so that, over time, it eliminated the Hamas threat while simultaneously accomplishing all that you want from a ceasefire? If not, why not?
Why is ceasefire the one and only response that so many in your shoes will accept? And why so little thinking about the consequence of a ceasefire on future escalations of this conflict?
We have to play chess, not checkers.
