Theresa, you make a good point here. I think that many (it’s always hard to state percentages when talking about motivation) people use the word “genocide” for this reason. It’s an effective if deeply cynical way to undermine compassion for Jewish suffering and make Jews in general appear morally depraved. And of course some people have been accusing Israel of genocide long before this war.
